Aim: Zero waste and compost system on site

We want organic waste from the market to become plant food rather than landfill!

We are working with our stallholders to help them change over from plastic to compostable or recyclable packaging. Our aim is to educate people about their rubbish and to reduce waste at the market. We have student volunteers helping us to run this programme with fresh vegies in return for their time.

We have removed all the bins from the market area and have started a new rubbish sorting system - you will see two big tables set up with signs indicating what should go where, so we can seperate rubbish, recycling and compostable materials.
