Westwood Chicken Festival

chickenfest The Westwood Organic and Freerange Chicken Festival took place on Saturday 19th February 2011.

The day was a huge success with the ever popular Annual Pate competition being a favourite with the crowd. Stallholders were given chicken livers supplied by Westwood Chicken and asked to create their best chicken liver pate. We had two categories this year - Chefs Choice and the Peoples Choice. Congratulations to Philippe Meyer from Taste of Provence for coming first in the Chef’s choice. A close second was Tessa from Grown with third place going to Logan Kerr from My Garden. In the people’s choice first place went to Bev Dawson from Moko Smoked Eel, second went to Logan Kerr from My Garden and third to Tessa from Grown.

Jamie Bennett and Sam Marchant from The Riccarton House Bistro ran a cooking demonstration on simple chicken marinades and dipping sauces.
